Who am I?

My childhood

6 year old girl with dark brown hair, greenish eyes, white skin sitting to take a picture. On her back a flag

Hello, I'm Carla Schiapim. It's a pleasure to see you here.

I'll try to tell you a little about my story, so we can get to know each other even better and strengthen our connection.

I am the daughter of two people from Paraíba who moved to São Paulo, the capital. I was born in 1982 and I have two younger brothers who I love very much. I grew up in a large family, surrounded by many cousins, and always surrounded by friends, with whom I played tag and hide-and-seek in the streets. I also played a lot of video games and theater. Since I was little, I have always been curious about how the human mind works and how it impacts our daily lives.

I have ADHD, so I was a very scolded child. I suffered a lot verbally and physically. I also suffered abuse... Unfortunately, at that time, there wasn't much talk about sex education and how the various abuses we experience in childhood have an impact on our lives.

Adult Life

As you can see, my childhood wasn't perfect, and that's okay; it's part of life. "What really makes a difference is not what happened to us, but what we do with it" (Victor Frank, in his book - Man's Search for Meaning). This decision made all the difference in my life!

I got married in 2008 to a wonderful person, and together we built many dreams. One of them was to live in another country. In 2016, we moved to Montreal, Québec, Canada, and we have been here ever since. Being an immigrant is a huge challenge; there is no glamour at all! It was very difficult to be away from my family, my friends, my routine, and even the simplest things, like the taste of bananas, papayas, and many fruits (believe me, it's different), or even a trip to the market. I went through tough times, such as a miscarriage, panic attacks, and much more. However, this journey helped me learn to love myself, appreciate my marriage, and face each challenge.

As I wrote earlier, I have undertaken a lot; I have become a great researcher and scholar of the mind and human behavior.

I have a degree in Social Sciences, with a postgraduate degree in Sexuality and Emotional Health from the University of Brasília and in Neuroscience and Behavior from PUC. I am a specialist in Epigenetics from the University of Melbourne, in Neurolinguistic Programming from the Coach Québec Institute and the International Coaching Community, and I have more than 20 specializations, including Reichian Psychology, Psychosomatics, and other related areas.

Here in Canada, I am a member of the L’Association des Naturothérapeutes du Québec, which allows for full or partial reimbursement of my consultations, depending on your insurance provider.

I am very eager to help you on your journey of self-discovery and hope with all my heart to have the opportunity to be together.

See you soon,

Carla Schiapim
