Therapeutic Program

A therapeutic program is a structured set of interventions, practices, and techniques developed to treat or improve an individual’s mental, emotional, or physical health. These programs can be tailored to meet each person’s specific needs and typically combine evidence-based methods with personalized approaches. The following steps are usually part of the program:
1 . Initial Assessment
Before beginning a therapeutic program, an initial assessment is usually conducted to understand the patient's history, needs, and goals. This may involve interviews, questionnaires, and, in some cases, psychological or physical assessments.
2 . Goal Setting
A therapeutic program often begins with setting clear, specific goals that the patient wishes to achieve. These objectives may range from improving mental health to overcoming emotional challenges or achieving greater physical well-being.
Interventions and Techniques
3 . Depending on the program’s focus, interventions may include:
-
Psychological Therapies: Such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, among others.
-
Occupational Therapies: Aimed at helping the individual perform daily activities and improve functionality.
-
Body Therapies: Including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or relaxation and biofeedback techniques.
-
Mindfulness and Meditation Techniques: To help reduce stress and improve emotional well-being.
-
Physical Exercise Programs: To enhance physical and mental health.
4 . Follow-up and Adjustments
A critical aspect of any therapeutic program is ongoing monitoring to track the patient’s progress and adjust interventions as necessary. This ensures that the program remains effective and adapts to any changes in the patient’s needs.
5 . Support and Education
Beyond direct interventions, the therapeutic program often includes educational support and guidance to help the patient better understand their conditions and learn self-care and prevention strategies.
6 . Program Conclusion and Final Evaluation
At the end of the program, an evaluation is conducted to review progress toward the established goals and discuss the next steps, which may include continuing treatment or strategies to maintain the gains achieved.
Examples of Therapeutic Programs
-
Rehabilitation Programs: For physical injury recovery or chemical dependency.
-
Mental Health Programs: Such as treatment programs for depression, anxiety, or eating disorders.
-
Personal Development Programs: Focusing on emotional growth and life skills.
Therapeutic programs should be based on scientific evidence and best practices. Clinical studies and research support the effectiveness of the approaches used, helping to ensure that the methods applied are reliable and effective.
In summary, a therapeutic program is a structured, personalized approach to help an individual achieve specific health and wellness goals through various techniques and interventions tailored to their needs.
Is this program psychotherapy?
No. In the province of Quebec, Canada, the differences between a psychotherapist, emotional support therapist, and naturotherapist are primarily defined by regulation, training, and scope of practice:
-
Psychotherapist:
The practice of psychotherapy and the title of psychotherapist are strictly regulated in Quebec. Only psychologists and physicians, or those with a specific license issued by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec, can use the title “psychotherapist.” Psychotherapy involves in-depth clinical interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, and is used to treat diagnosed mental disorders like depression, anxiety, among others. -
Emotional Support Therapist:
This title is not regulated like psychotherapy. Emotional support therapists offer support with well-being issues, active listening, and counseling in situations of stress, relationships, and personal development. They do not treat diagnosed mental health conditions and lack the clinical training required for psychotherapists. -
Naturotherapist:
Naturotherapists in Quebec work in a field not regulated by the same standards as psychotherapists and doctors. They focus on natural methods for treatment, prevention, and wellness through techniques that improve diet, exercise, and emotional support, treating the “client” holistically. The practice is also regulated by professional associations that require adherence to an ethical code and the maintenance of professional standards set by associations like the Association Québécoise des Thérapeutes Naturels.
I’m not in Canada. Do the same rules apply?
Each country applies its own regulations to online services.
How Does the Program Work?
-
Expected Duration of the Entire Process: Between 6 to 8 months (Some clients take more or less time, depending on the frequency of sessions).
-
Biweekly Sessions or as Needed: Ten sessions every 15 days, or adjusted as needed. Each session lasts 1.5 hours, except for the first session, which may last up to 3 hours for an in-depth Family Systemic Consciousness immersion (clients can choose not to use this approach).
